Mentoring at its most basic level, helps because it guarantees a young person that there is someone who cares about them. Our thought is a child should not be left alone to deal with day-to-day challenges. Our mentors provide their mentees with an experienced friend who is there to help in any number of situations.

o   Support for education (mentors help keep students in school research has shown that students who meet regularly with their mentors are 52% less likely than their peers to skip a day of school and 37% less likely to skip a class). Our mentors help with homework and can improve their mentees’ academic skills.

o   Support with day-to-day living (mentors help improve a young person’s self-esteem, it is a fact that youth who meet regularly with their mentors are 46% less likely than their peers to start using illegal drugs and 27% less likely to start drinking).

o   Support with day-to-day living (Our mentors help improve a young person’s self-esteem, we have found that 40% of a teenager’s waking hours are spent without companionship or supervision. Our mentors provide our kids with a valuable place to spend free time and we teach them how to relate well with all kinds of people and help them in strengthening their communication skills.)
